Elon Musk floats idea of Mario Kart or Pokémon GO-esque games with Tesla

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has been, uh, going batty during quarantine. But one of his more coherent and less controversial tweets recently pertained to the Tesla automotive brand, of which he is CEO. He asked Twitter if anyone thought they could get a viable multiplayer Minecraft experience going in a Tesla car. Then he essentially floated the idea of creating augmented reality experiences like Pokémon GO, but designed to play safely in the context of operating a vehicle. It could be even “like a complex version of Pac-Man or Mario Kart.”

Incidentally, Minecraft Technical Director Nathan Adams actually responded to the tweet with, “Send me a Tesla and I’ll see what I can do,” which is actually pretty cool and exciting. But when it comes to more AR-ish experiences like Pokémon GO or a Mario Kart experience, introducing your Tesla car to an altered reality while operating the vehicle sounds pretty iffy to me.

Although, Elon Musk apparently tweeted these things in the middle of the night. Some of his followers suggested he may have been under the influence of something during those tweets. That may or may not be true. All we can say for sure is that Elon Musk is a unique character, and for better or worse, he’s not going anywhere.

Are you in favor of MinecraftPokémon GO, or Mario Kart-esque experiences in your car? How would you like to see them implemented?
